The Lord has taken away the judgments against you - Zephaniah 3:15
For those in Christ:
Genesis 3 tells us that sin entered the world. The rest of the Bible shows the reality of what that sin has caused. There is sin abounding in all of us. The Bible tells us that because of sin, we are subject to judgment. We are guilty and we know it. The Judge is going to come and soon everything we’ve worked so hard to hide, or everything we’ve worked so hard to show off, will come under judgment.
Zephaniah 3 tells us that judgment is entering the world. The rest of the Bible shows the reality of what that judgment has done. It has killed the Savior. The Bible tells us that because of the death of the Messiah, we are now subject to freedom. We are free and the Bible lets us know it. The Judge came and everything we worked so hard to hide, and everything we worked so hard to show off came under judgment. But we didn’t bear it. He took away the judgments against us. He took them away by enduring the judgments for us – on the cross.
For those not in Christ:
Genesis 3 tells us that sin entered the world. The rest of the Bible shows the reality of what that sin has caused. There is sin abounding in all of us. The Bible tells us that because of sin, we are subject to judgment. We are guilty and we know it. The Judge is going to come and soon everything we’ve worked so hard to hide, or everything we’ve worked so hard to show off, will come under judgment.
Zephaniah 3 does not apply to you. Judgment is coming. The Bible, however, tells us the way into Zephaniah 3-type goodness, “Whoever believes in Him is not condemned.” Jesus is the Savior. Your guilt is taken away by him at an incredible exchange rate: you admit your weakness and sin and you look to him as the one who saves you and He takes your judgment. That’s the doorway into Zephaniah 3. Once inside, the ultimate end of your life is no longer judgment, but joy.
